Pacific Publications Website is being produced to promote the island nations of the South Pacific. The South Pacific is rich in natural beauty, culture and traditions, the diversity of each is quite astounding, the attractions countless. This website will eventually cover many of the Island Nations but to start with Solomon Islands is the first off the rank.

Solomon Islands are known as the 'Hapi Isles'. Like most Pacific Nations the smiles are big and bright, instantaneous and genuine. It just happens the further you get away from a built up area the bigger the smiles. That may say something about modern living.
Like many smaller Nations starting to find its feet in a modern and fast changing world, Solomon Islands have not been without its domestic growing pains. Headlines of six years ago would have the entire Nation up in flames or at one another's throats. More recently some headlines led people from overseas to think a wall of water forty foot high was raging up and down the full length of Honiara. Unfortunately a tsunami did hit Solomon Islands but it was hundreds of kilometers away from Honiara.

For years headlines put all of Ireland deep in civil war. Irish people have stated just as it was in Solomon Islands, the troubles were confined to a small section of the Nation yet the entire Nation was tarnished by the same headlines. It is true in the early 2000s Honiara was not a nice place to live but what the headlines do not tell is the rest of the Nation was living as peacefully and idyllically as it always does. Like most domestic quarrels they are usually isolated to small areas and those areas are usually the major urban areas. For those wanting to see the real culture or lifestyle of any country the urban areas are not the place to look anyway.

The Honiara Beautification Group has and is still doing a great job at making Honiara look continually at it best for our visitors. Solomon Islands Tourist

Industry Association along with the rest of the tourism industry is also working at making our front gate a pleasant entrance into the country. Work is also in progress to open airports in the Western Province as another direct entrance. This second entry point will be of significant benefit to the tourism and business sectors and Solomon Islands as a whole. Solomon Islands have a real advantage over its more advanced neighbours in as much as it is less advanced. What you see in Solomon Islands is what you get, naturally beautiful and unspoiled by high-pressure commercialization.

If you are addicted to seeing McDonalds, Kentucky Fried Chicken or Coca-Cola billboards all about, then Solomon Islands may not be your choice. The urban areas might not be a first time tourists delight but get out in the real villages and deep into every Province and you are in a timeless world where living off the land is a way of life and subsistence gardening is the only means of survival. The real Solomon Islands has little in the way of material goods or facilities compared to its more commercialized neighbours but there in lies the real attraction for the Nation and its people. Solomon Islands cannot boast five star hotels, if as a tourist you want to stay in one of those and not see the real destination, don't come to Solomon Islands. If you want a family holiday, a honeymoon, a vacation, an experience to remember, then come and check Solomon Islands out.
With the dreaded global finance crises likely to affect your holiday dollars, again Solomon Islands might be the destination you are looking for. With no over priced high-end hotels or artificial commercial pastimes, you can come and know you will be getting value for money as well as an unforgettable experience.

Another reason for coming as soon as you can is, sadly, the Global warming crises. Unfortunately many of the very unique natural features to attract a visitor may in the years to come, not be here. Solomon Islands are a nation of nearly 1000 Islands and many of them low-lying islands or atolls. The majority of these will be victim of sea rise over the next decade or so. The many uniquely beautiful lagoons will suffer greatly and eventually disappear. This will be a major blow to Solomon Islands but while they are still here to explore, now is the chance to do just that. Inland Solomon Islands will not be affected by sea rise and there is a multitude of new and different things to see. There are still many places within Solomon Islands where European influence is at an absolute minimum. True, Solomon Islands have much natural beauty to boast, but it is the people and their lifestyle that make Solomon Islands the real attraction it is.

The artistic talents of the youth of all ages are very diverse and colorful. From smaller arts and crafts using all kinds of local materials, to basket weaving to singing, dancing, music, making shell money and traditional body ornaments, carving to ship building and sports, Solomon Islanders do it all with a natural talent and flair. Solomon Islands exports only a hand full of items but every one is a top quality commodity standing amongst the very best in the world. It is all this and more, Pacific Publications through its Promoting Solomons magazine and its website www.pacificpublications.biz wishes to bring to those who have not yet had the privilege to experience for themselves.

Promoting Solomons helps everyone.
